Yuan Weiren passed away today. In the past, I thought "On the road to the underworld, there are no old or young" was just a scare tactic. Now I realize, it's not a warning at all, but a fact. Many people don't slowly walk toward the end, but are suddenly pulled away, leaving no time for a farewell. The cruelest thing is not death itself, but how increasingly casual it has become. Cancer, heart attacks, sudden death—like a random roll call, whoever is called, disappears. Age, status, effort—all become invalid at that moment.
