NYSE announces development of a US stock tokenization platform, ushering in the era of 24/7 trading around the clock

The NYSE announced that it is developing a platform for tokenized securities trading and on-chain settlement, and plans to seek regulatory approval. According to the plan, the platform will support 7×24 trading of US stocks and ETFs, fractional trading, stablecoin-based fund settlement, and instant delivery.

01 Platform Blueprint

The proposed tokenization platform by NYSE aims to combine the mature system of traditional securities markets with the efficiency and transparency of blockchain technology. The core of the platform is the innovative integration of NYSE’s advanced Pillar matching engine with a blockchain settlement system.

The platform will support settlement and custody across multiple chains. Its goal is to create a new trading venue that supports tokenized stocks interchangeable with traditional issued securities, as well as native digital security tokens.

Holders of tokenized stocks will enjoy the same dividend distribution and governance rights as traditional shareholders. This ensures asset rights are consistent at both legal and substantive levels, which is key to gaining mainstream investor trust.
