Odaily Planet Daily News According to reports, as World (WLD) continues to face controversy in Latin America, Argentine authorities are investigating a newsstand operator who allegedly paid customers and ‘neighbors’ about 20 US dollars for iris scans. An Argentine prosecutor following consumer rights has begun an investigation into the case, and the police have also launched a separate investigation.
The newsstand is located in Zapala, Neuquen Province, Patagonia. Officials said the newsstand operator (or newsstand staff) was not authorized to scan biometric data. There is information indicating that the operator is associated with World and WLD tokens. Residents of the city reported that there is often a “full-day” queue outside the newsstand. Passersby said this is unusual because the newsstand “currently cannot attract so many customers at the same time”.
A local resident who declined to be named said, “Inside the newsstand, someone has turned this place into an office.”
The same resident also said that the man in the newsstand “has a computer and pays people to provide biometric data.”
If it is determined that there is a violation of the law, law enforcement officers may impose penalties on the individual and the company. (Cryptonews)
