Securities Times China Securities Network (Reporter Zhang Xue) “The high-quality development of enterprises still depends on products and innovation. This innovation is not only technological innovation, but also includes comprehensive systems, operations, commerce, and various other innovations. Only innovation can support the high-quality development of enterprises. Union Imaging will definitely adhere to this firm determination and continue to move forward.” Xue Min, the controlling shareholder of Union Imaging Medical and the chairman of Union Imaging Group, said at the “Shanghai Securities Drip Lake Listed Company High-Quality Development Conference” on December 27th.

The high-end medical equipment industry in China started from scratch, struggled for decades, from the initial backwardness, almost completely relying on imports, to the current booming industry and the rise of industry leaders. In Xue Min’s view, the high-end medical device industry chain is complex, with large investment in innovation and long research and development cycles, testing a country’s manufacturing and high-tech capabilities. This is why the company proposed the “three must” principles at the beginning of its establishment: that is, research and development products must cover the entire line, independently developed; it must master all core technologies and core components; it must benchmark international top standards.

The company has created the industry’s only vertical innovation system covering ‘whole machine system - core components - key components’, and has achieved independent research and development of core components of PET digital light guide detectors, MR superconducting magnets, and other core components of high-end medical imaging and radiotherapy products. The proportion of self-developed core components is leading in the industry. Currently, the company has more than 9000 patent applications, 80% of which are invention patents, creating a high ground for intellectual property rights and a hard-core technological barrier.

Xue Min noticed that the current digital wave is sweeping the world, and the medical industry is facing unprecedented opportunities for transformation. New technologies are constantly emerging, from artificial intelligence models to chip technology, meta-universe technology, blockchain, and the Internet of Things, all of which are driving the transformation of various industries. The high-end medical equipment industry also faces great challenges and opportunities, which also forces industry enterprises to have innovative thinking.

The overall ecological layout of United Imaging combines the exploration in related fields. For example, through various automated means such as intelligent voice, intelligent vision, intelligent robots, intelligent imaging, etc., with the strong support of AI, chips and new materials, more new functions are endowed to high-end medical equipment.

In terms of overseas market development, Xue Min mentioned that in recent years, United Imaging has successively entered high-end overseas markets such as the United States, Japan, and Europe, and has entered nearly 75 countries and regions globally. In terms of product technology level, some products have caught up with international advanced level, and some products have achieved certain leading positions. ‘As long as you have something that others don’t have, as long as you have innovative products and leading technology, there will definitely be opportunities in the European and American markets,’ Xue Min said.

“The underlying logic of Linking globalisation is not simply market expansion, but high-level operations supported by hard technology. It is the globalisation deeply integrated with the world, including technological innovation, production, operation, marketing, and organisational culture.” Xue Min said that Linking Medical will actively embrace globalisation, accelerate towards a world-class high-end medical equipment enterprise, and promote the shining of “Made in China” high-end medical equipment in the world.
