As Telegram’s popular game Hamster Kombat prepares for the token launch, community members have started to receive fraud allegations.
According to a tweet from the Hamster Kombat team, players will not be able to obtain all of the HMSTR tokens. According to the statements, users will be able to claim 88.75% of the airdrop they received and will have to wait 10 months for the remaining 11.25% of the token to be claimable.
The airdrop distribution system has been criticized. Some community members have described the airdrop distribution as “fraudulent”.
Allegations against Hamster Kombat are serious
After Catizen, Hamster Kombat, which aimed at airdrop distribution, received reactions from thousands of people. The common point of the reactions is the number of HMSTR accumulated with the reference system of accounts that can be called phenomena. People who spend hours playing the game obtained a very low number of tokens compared to those who accumulated references. As a result, X (formerly known as Twitter) turned into a chaotic environment. Support is currently pouring in for those accusing the game of fraud.
Crypto with Khan, who has 43 thousand followers on X platform, made striking accusations against the project team. Saying ‘Hamster Kombat cheated the community’, Crypto with Khan said the following:
**“They allocated a large portion of the airdrops to YouTubers and people with high followers who fawned over for referrals. They implemented the distribution system without informing the public. To collect keys from their games, they made people work day and night as laborers and gave them $5 or $10 worth of tokens. The main culprits behind this frustration are influencers and YouTubers. They’re selling the iPhone and Lambo dream to new users to gain millions of views and subscribers and make big money out of it.” **
The player who claims to have been scammed received a flood of support. The mentioned X post has reached approximately 1 million views.
Hamster Kombat entered the mid-season with the airdrop announcement
Telegram’s another popular tap-to-earn game Catizen followed the same strategy in the airdrop distribution. Catizen, which has millions of players, faced intense criticism for the airdrop of its game token CATI. Many users who expressed playing the game for hours obtained very small amounts of CATI compared to crypto influencers.
The Hamster Kombat team announced that only about 129 million of the 300 million players who have played the game so far are eligible to receive the airdrop. The team said that initially 131 million players were eliminated and about 2.3 million users were banned for cheating.
A total of 60 billion out of 100 billion HMSTR tokens will be distributed in the airdrop, and 15 billion tokens will be reserved for the upcoming 2nd season of the game. Hamster Kombat has released a simplified interim season until the start of the next season. It is not yet known how long the interim season will last. The demand for the second season will be determined based on whether the HMSTR airdrop satisfies the players.
