Two Deribit whale traders who bought Bitcoin call options may lose $8.2 million in option premiums if they do not close their positions early.

Odaily Planet Daily reported that on-chain analyst Ai Yi monitored that a certain whale previously bought 3,000 call options worth $100,000 each, expiring on 2026.01.30, paying a total premium of $2.86 million. Another whale bought 1,300 call options expiring on 2026.02.27 worth $100,000 each, and 2,400 call options expiring on 2026.01.30 worth $98,000 each, paying a total premium of $10.22 million. Today at 4 PM marks the first monthly settlement after the annual delivery. If these two large holders do not close their positions early, they will lose $8.2 million in premiums.
