A woman in Macau, China, falls victim to an investment scam under the guise of "virtual currency," losing 1.18 million yuan

BlockBeats News, December 30 — According to Macau Radio, a local woman in Macau was lured by an online user to invest in “virtual currency.” Since mid-September, she transferred money to a designated account in 8 installments. The platform once showed a “profit of 7.9 million yuan,” but when she tried to withdraw, she was asked to pay an additional 250,000 yuan for “exchange rate difference.” She then lost contact with the platform and was ultimately confirmed to have been scammed out of 1.18 million yuan.
