Robinhood Markets announced plans to acquire brokerage firm PT Buana Capital Sekuritas and licensed digital asset trading unit PT Pedagang Aset Kripto, marking an expansion into Southeast Asia’s largest and fastest-growing crypto market.

These two deals will allow Robinhood to access over 19 million stock investors and 17 million crypto traders in Indonesia, with completion expected in the first half of 2026 pending OJK approval.

This move is part of Robinhood’s global expansion strategy, following the establishment of its regional headquarters in Singapore and obtaining an operating license for the Bitstamp exchange there. Indonesia currently has a more transparent regulatory framework for digital assets, with 28 licensed entities as of Q3/2025.

Robinhood will maintain existing services for Buana Capital customers and gradually roll out new products, ranging from local products to US stocks and crypto. Majority owner Pieter Tanuri will continue to accompany the company as a strategic advisor.

Robinhood shares rose 1.17% following news of the deals, reflecting investor optimism about the company’s ability to expand its market share in Indonesia. The value of the agreement was not disclosed and is still pending OJK review.
