RedotPay Integrates Ripple Payments! Transparent Fees for Stablecoin Cross-Border Transfers

RedotPay announces a new partnership with Ripple to improve its stablecoin payment infrastructure and expand coverage for low-cost cross-border transactions. The fintech company has launched a “Send Crypto, Receive Nigerian Naira” feature, allowing users to convert digital assets to NGN via Ripple Payments, with settlement typically completed within minutes and transparent fees.

RedotPay CEO and co-founder Michael Gao stated that near-instant NGN payments are a milestone in the platform’s development. He noted the company’s goal is to make stablecoin-based payments “as convenient as using local currency,” enabling users to securely and quickly send XRP or other supported assets and receive NGN. Gao added that collaborating with Ripple will expand RedotPay’s global influence while enhancing the reliability and accessibility of its services.

At the core of this partnership is Ripple Payments, Ripple’s licensed cross-border payment solution. Unlike the traditional SWIFT system which requires multiple intermediary banks, Ripple Payments leverages blockchain technology to achieve peer-to-peer instant settlement. This technical framework not only drastically reduces transaction costs but also shortens settlement times from several days to just minutes, providing RedotPay with robust infrastructure support.

The new NGN payment feature allows verified users with local bank accounts to directly convert supported digital assets to NGN, with settlement typically completed within minutes. According to RedotPay, this integration aims to simplify the user experience and provide a more cost-effective alternative to traditional remittance channels. Users simply send supported assets via RedotPay, and the specified bank account will directly receive NGN, with no need for complicated intermediary steps.

Jack Cullinane, Ripple’s Head of Business for APAC, stated that this partnership highlights the real-world value of Ripple Payments in reducing cross-border transaction friction and improving convenience for consumers and businesses. He emphasized that Ripple’s goal is to make cross-border payments as easy as sending an email, and the partnership with RedotPay is a concrete step toward that vision.

Disrupting Traditional Remittances: From 6.49% Fees to Settlement in Minutes

Global remittances continue to face structural challenges. Traditional remittance methods often involve high fees, averaging 6.49% globally, with settlement times ranging from one to five business days. These inefficiencies have accelerated the adoption of digital alternatives, and Chainalysis notes that APAC is the fastest-growing region for on-chain stablecoin usage, especially in trading and remittances.

What does a 6.49% fee mean? Suppose a Nigerian working overseas sends $1,000 home each month; traditional channels would charge about $65 per transfer, leading to nearly $800 lost annually. For families relying on remittances for their livelihoods, this is a heavy burden. In addition, settlement times of 1 to 5 days can cause serious problems in emergencies, such as medical expenses or sudden costs.

RedotPay says it aims to leverage Ripple Payments’ underlying blockchain infrastructure to solve these problems by offering transparent pricing and accelerated settlement. With blockchain technology, transaction costs mainly come from network fees (usually less than $1) and a small service charge, far lower than traditional channels. Settlement speed is greatly improved by removing multiple layers of intermediaries, shortening the process from several days to just minutes.

Traditional Remittance vs. RedotPay + Ripple Stablecoin Remittance Comparison

Fees: Traditional 6.49% ($65/$1,000) vs. Stablecoin <1% (less than $10)

Settlement Time: Traditional 1-5 business days vs. Stablecoin a few minutes

Transparency: Traditional hidden exchange rate markups vs. Stablecoin on-chain verifiable

Availability: Traditional limited to banking hours vs. Stablecoin 24/7 around the clock

This vast difference in cost and efficiency is the core value proposition of the RedotPay and Ripple partnership. For the hundreds of millions globally who rely on remittances, this is not just a technological upgrade, but a real reduction in economic burden.

Support for 11 Cryptocurrencies and Future Expansion Plans

The NGN payment feature currently supports multiple cryptocurrencies, including USDC, USDT, BTC, ETH, SOL, TON, TRX, XRP, and BNB, with Ripple’s RLUSD also slated for future integration. This multi-asset support strategy enables RedotPay to meet the asset preferences of different users, allowing convenient conversion to NGN regardless of which mainstream crypto they hold.

XRP plays a special role in this partnership. As the native token of the Ripple ecosystem, XRP is designed for cross-border payments, featuring extremely fast transaction speeds (3-5 second confirmations) and ultra-low fees (usually less than $0.01). After RedotPay users send XRP, Ripple Payments instantly converts it to NGN and settles it to the designated bank account, making the entire process seamless and efficient.

The upcoming integration of RLUSD is also noteworthy. RLUSD is Ripple’s dollar stablecoin, pegged 1:1 to the US dollar and backed by high-quality reserve assets. Once integrated, users will be able to remit with RLUSD, combining stablecoin price stability with Ripple’s efficient network settlements to provide more options.

The “Send Crypto, Receive Nigerian Naira (NGN)” service expands RedotPay’s existing multi-market offerings, which already support payments in Brazilian Real (BRL) and Mexican Peso (MXN). This multi-market layout demonstrates RedotPay’s global ambitions, with potential future expansion to more emerging market currencies.

The service targets global mobile users such as digital nomads, freelancers, entrepreneurs, and individuals working abroad who need efficient remittance solutions. By expanding its stablecoin-based payment channels, RedotPay aims to increase service coverage in emerging markets, where traditional remittance services remain slow and costly.

RedotPay and Ripple Build the Future of Stablecoin Remittances Together

RedotPay says that as its partnership with Ripple strengthens its settlement infrastructure, the company plans to further expand its regional service coverage and bring faster, more affordable crypto remittance services to underserved markets. This expansion will not only include supporting more fiat currencies, but also enhancing platform features such as automatic exchange rate optimization, batch payments, and enterprise-grade API integration.

From a broader industry perspective, the RedotPay and Ripple partnership represents a real breakthrough for stablecoins in global remittances. For a long time, crypto has been criticized for lacking real-world use cases, but this partnership demonstrates how blockchain technology can solve genuine financial pain points. When millions can send money home faster and at lower cost, stablecoins become not just speculative tools, but practical financial infrastructure.

For Ripple, this partnership further expands the global footprint of Ripple Payments. Following collaborations with banks and financial institutions, working with consumer-facing fintechs like RedotPay allows Ripple’s technology to reach end users directly, boosting brand awareness and real-world usage.
