Due to a cyber attack on third-party customer service, Discord has experienced a user data leak.

PANews reported on October 5 that the social media platform Discord announced on the 3rd of this month local time that its third-party customer service provider suffered a hacker intrusion, and some customer information was stolen and used to extort Discord. This cybersecurity incident affected some Discord users who had contacted the customer support team or the trust and safety team, involving chat logs, real names, usernames, email addresses, IP addresses, transaction history, payment information, the last four digits of credit cards, and a small amount of ID photos used to prove age. Discord immediately revoked the access of the involved third party to the Discord ticketing system upon discovering this matter. According to preliminary analysis, the unauthorized third party that launched the attack did not have the capability to directly access Discord.
