According to Mars Finance, court documents reveal that former Rippling employee Keith O’Brien admitted to receiving $5000 ETH monthly during his tenure to engage in corporate espionage for competitor Deel, frequently leaking company secrets via Telegram. Deel’s CEO even described the operation as “James Bond” and stated that crypto asset payments are “trace-free.” Before this incident came to light, Rippling had already filed a lawsuit against Deel in the San Francisco federal court, accusing it of orchestrating an illegal espionage scheme. This case comes at a time when the crypto industry is trying to improve its public image, which has been favored by criminal activities.
