Is Elon Musk pulling out of DOGE? According to a report on April 2 by Politico, three sources close to President Donald Trump revealed that the president and Elon Musk discussed plans for the CEO of X to step down from his role in the government. According to sources, this billionaire entrepreneur will focus on managing his many businesses. Just last month, White House Deputy Press Secretary Harrison Fields accused Musk of staying until his “mission” at DOGE is “complete.” A Politico report in February cited an anonymous insider claiming that the controversial tech billionaire “will be staying here” despite widespread public scrutiny.

As a special government official, Musk is only allowed to work 130 days out of a total of 365 days, and this South African engineer is expected to reach that limit next month or in June. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt spoke out on X on Wednesday, calling the information “garbage.” “Elon Musk and President Trump both publicly stated that Elon would leave public service as a special government employee once his amazing work at DOGE is completed,” she wrote. However, a senior White House official confirmed to NBC News on Wednesday afternoon that Trump discussed Musk’s departure at the Cabinet meeting on March 24. While Elon Musk’s position in the government remains unclear, his involvement with the Trump administration has had consequences for his business. CEO X Faces Backlash Over DOGE Policy, Tesla Under Attack Musk has faced widespread commercial backlash due to his role alongside the Trump administration, as some Tesla charging stations, vehicles, and dealerships have been attacked in recent months. During a town hall meeting in Wisconsin on Sunday, Elon Musk spoke about how his political activities have affected his business. He also clarified that although this abbreviation is similar to cryptocurrency, the federal government has no plans to use Dogecoin. “My Tesla stock and the stock of everyone who owns Tesla has dropped by almost half,” he stated at an event hosted by his crypto-friendly America PAC. “I mean, that’s a big deal.”
