März wurde auf einer Prognoseplattform eine neue Marktfunktion hinzugefügt: „Wird der Ölpreis vor Ende März die historische Höchstmarke von 147,27 US-Dollar überschreiten?“ Derzeit liegt die Wahrscheinlichkeit bei 11 %. Dieser historische Höchststand von 147,27 US-Dollar wurde vor etwa 20 Jahren erreicht. Im Januar 2007 lag der internationale Ölpreis durchschnittlich bei etwa 56 US-Dollar pro Barrel. Anschließend stiegen die Preise aufgrund einer steigenden Nachfrage in Schwellenländern, globaler Angebotsknappheit und weiterer Faktoren kontinuierlich an, bis sie am 11. Juli 2008 intraday den Rekordwert von 147,27 US-Dollar pro Barrel erreichten.
