AIMPACT News, April 25 (UTC+8): Google announced that it will invest up to $40 billion in the AI company Anthropic. The first tranche of $10 billion will be injected based on its current valuation of $380 billion, and the remaining $30 billion will be tied to specific performance targets. Since 2023, Google has invested more than $3.0 billion in Anthropic and currently holds about 14% of the company’s shares. Earlier this month, Anthropic locked in 5 gigawatts of computing capacity through agreements with Google and Broadcom. Just a few days ago, Amazon also pledged an additional $25 billion investment in Anthropic, meaning that within just a few weeks, up to $65 billion will flow into the company behind the Claude AI model. Anthropic’s current annual revenue has already exceeded $30 billion, and it is expected to go public within the next few months.
