I just found out that in the State of Mexico, the validity of license plates is 5 years, while in Mexico City they only last 3. I don't know about you, but that's a pretty significant difference if you own a car. Basically, it means that if you live in the State of Mexico, your registration card is renewed every 5 years, saving you paperwork and headaches compared to the capital. The validity of the plates is directly linked to the document, so everything is together. I also learned that there was an incentive program for those with pending debts. If your plates were from 2021 and you owed vehicle tax or renewal fees, you could access 100% forgiveness of debts in 2024 and previous years. For older plates (2020 and onwards), there were also benefits. The interesting part is that renewing every 5 years instead of every 3 like in Mexico City avoids unnecessary fines and surcharges. Honestly, it's a plus for the State of Mexico in terms of vehicle paperwork. Does anyone else here own a car in the state and have noticed the difference?
