Lately, gas has really been driving me crazy… Once the mainnet gets busy, even clicking confirm feels painful—the experience is like paying tuition. Later, I learned to be a bit smarter: for routine small amounts and frequent operations, I send it to L2—cheap and easy to use. If it’s truly meant for long-term holding, or if I’m dealing with cross-chain or large amounts, I still go back to the mainnet—slower, but steady. Put simply: don’t force mainnet transactions just to save on gas, and don’t gamble your life savings for the little cheaper cost on L2.
These past few days, I’ve also seen people staring at big transfers on-chain, and calling out exchange hot/cold wallet movements as “smart money is here,” and I almost fell for the FOMO at first—I even had my hand on the open position button… Then I calmed down and thought it through: other people moving funds, rebalancing, and doing risk control is also pretty normal. As for me, an unlucky perpetual trader, I follow along and start imagining things—nine times out of ten, it’s just me inventing excuses to get liquidated.
By the way, here’s a small mindset tweak: not long ago, I was following a bunch of “on-chain detectives,” watching them every day while my heartbeat sped up; this week I unfollowed a few straight away—too disruptive to my trading discipline. Anyway, I only have one rule now: first, keep your positions under control—don’t let emotions pick the chain for you, and don’t let them place orders for you. That’s it for now.
