Ever thought about how much the Pakistani rupee has weakened over the decades? Just scrolled through some currency history and it's wild to see the progression.

Back in 1970, 1 USD was just 4.76 PKR. That was the rate for most of the 1960s-70s, pretty stable actually. But then things started shifting - by the late 70s it crept up to around 10 PKR, and that's when you could really feel the pressure building.

The real acceleration hit in the 90s. Went from 30 PKR in '94 to 51 PKR by '99. Then the 2000s saw another wave - 60 PKR to 85 PKR range. But the biggest shock? 2008-2019. That's when it went from 81 PKR all the way to 163 PKR. Absolutely brutal.

Fast forward to 2024, and we're sitting at 277 PKR per dollar. That's an 80x depreciation since independence. The currency has lost like 99% of its value in nominal terms over 75+ years. Wild when you actually map it out like this.
