Trump: Iran has agreed to most of the 15 demands
Golden Finance reports that on March 30, local time on Sunday, Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One in the United States that Iran has “met” most of the 15 ceasefire demands that the U.S. had previously put forward to Tehran, although it is still unclear whether the two sides are genuinely engaging in substantive negotiations at this time. He said, “They have met most of our points. Why wouldn’t they? We’ll make a few other demands again.” But he refused to disclose which specific concessions Iran made.
On the public record, Iran has clearly rejected a list of the 15 ceasefire conditions and has instead put forward its own five prerequisite conditions—included among them is full control over the sovereignty of the Strait of Hormuz. This weekend, officials from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey met to try to find a way out of the conflict, but there are currently no signs that the talks have made substantive progress. After meeting with counterparts from various countries, Pakistan’s foreign minister said, “Both Iran and the United States have stated that they trust Pakistan and are willing to have Pakistan host the follow-up negotiations.” However, neither side has indicated that it is ready for direct dialogue.
