There are two common mistakes in understanding gender relations:

1. Using a feminist discourse framework
Gender equality exists at the social level, but not within intimate relationships.
Men and women, 1 and 0, t and p, are completely unequal in rights and responsibilities because their needs differ.
One type of desire is for destruction, conquest, and creation; the other is for self-destruction, submission, and worship. How can these two desires be equal? Equality means losing tension.
2. Using a pre-modern discourse framework
Catholicism and Confucianism attempted to construct a marriage-based support responsibility system to maintain a stable social structure centered on the family.
This pre-modern discourse still has considerable influence today, but it has long been unsuitable for modern or even post-modern social life.
An excessive sense of responsibility is a potential repression of free nature. When social structures are incompatible, it can lead to even more extreme psychological shocks: the more repressed individuals are, the more they may seek prostitution.
