The Ethereum Foundation's AI lead proposed replacing "identity" with "staking" as the access mechanism in the AI era—users deposit funds once and can make numerous API calls while remaining unlinked; abuse results in forfeiture of the stake. Vitalik agreed, believing that combining ZK privacy payments with on-chain reputation mechanisms could build an AI infrastructure different from traditional internet models.
