Galaxy: Stablecoins are evolving from payment tools to "Internet banking" infrastructure

Odaily Planet Daily reports that Galaxy investor Will Nuelle, in an interview, reflected on 2025 and stated that the team initially regarded cross-border payments as a core theme, but the real unexpected gain came from the “crypto payment card” track. He pointed out that stablecoins are not expected to explode as a means of payment, but rather serve as an entry point for emerging markets to access US dollars, allowing users to spend their savings assets that substitute for their local currency in the form of cards. Galaxy has therefore increased related investments, including projects like Rain and RedotPay. Looking ahead to 2026, Galaxy focuses on on-chain lending, net interest margin on savings, securitization, and perpetual equity, and believes that stablecoins are reshaping banking and deposit systems, gradually transforming the internet into a “bank.”
