Thierry Malleret has put forward a thought-provoking critique: the World Economic Forum appears to be morphing into nothing more than an empty vessel—one that's shed all semblance of meaningful agenda-setting and has effectively abandoned any real capacity to drive meaningful change.

This observation cuts to the heart of institutional credibility in today's world. As traditional power structures face increasing scrutiny, organizations that once commanded significant influence are struggling to maintain relevance. Whether you agree with the assessment or not, it raises important questions about how global institutions adapt—or fail to adapt—to rapidly shifting economic and social landscapes.

For those tracking macro trends and institutional dynamics, this kind of critical examination is worth your attention.

The WEF has long become a club for the wealthy. Besides issuing press releases, what else can they do?

The WEF has been a shell for a long time; everyone knows it when you mention it.

The WEF has been hollowed out for a long time. The person who says this probably just realized it today.

nah, technically speaking WEF's been a theater of sorts for ages. the "meaningful agenda-setting" ship sailed when trustlessness became unfashionable in boardrooms. they're basically running on proof-of-reputation that's already been invalidated.

Wef has long been hollowed out; frankly, it's just a social club for the elites... Truly changing the world? Dream on.

The WEF has long become a club for the elite. What agenda setting are you talking about?

Wef has long become a stage for power games. To put it simply, it's just major whales gathering together to flatter each other. Real change? What is that? --- The Davos Forum has been repeating the same topics for so many years, really not very insightful. --- The topic of institutional failure has always been quite interesting, but honestly, who really expects the WEF to change anything? Just a social club for entertainment. --- Empty vessel said it well, it's just a high-level social club, with plenty of funding but negative output. --- Institutions dying in real time. Watching traditional power structures crumble is also one of the interesting aspects of this era.
