Original Title: India Central Bank “BRICS Countries Need to Connect CBDCs”… US Stablecoin Crackdown Intensifies
Original Link:
India’s central bank (RBI) is actively promoting the interconnection of CBDCs among BRICS countries to activate cross-border trade and tourism payments. This move is seen as a strategic step to gradually reduce dependence on the US dollar amid escalating geopolitical tensions and to prevent the spread of private stablecoins.
According to reports from Reuters and other foreign media, the RBI has advised the Indian government to include the “BRICS CBDC Interconnection Proposal” as a main agenda item at this year’s (2026) BRICS summit held in India. Several informed sources said the proposal has been officially submitted to the Indian government, marking the first formal discussion within the group on CBDC interconnection.
Significance of CBDC Interconnection Among BRICS Countries
Through CBDC interconnection, BRICS member countries can improve cross-border trade efficiency, reduce transaction costs, and decrease reliance on the US dollar settlement system. This is also seen as a targeted counterbalance to the expansion of US stablecoins.

Haha, BRICS is working on CBDC interconnection? Now the US dollar is really panicking... De-dollarization should have been on the agenda a long time ago.

De-dollarization should have been on the agenda long ago. Forming a coalition like BRICS is the right way to go.

Here we go again, relying on the dollar decline. Sounds nice... It would really be impressive if they could actually coordinate together.

De-dollarization is happening again. Is this for real this time? BRICS countries jointly developing CBDC interoperability sounds good, but implementing it will be difficult.
