ERC-8004 received a significant update last week, and after reviewing the technical changes, here's what stands out:

The key insight? Reputation calculations shouldn't live inside the contract itself. This is actually a smart architectural decision — it keeps the on-chain logic lean and lets reputation systems operate more flexibly off-chain or through external oracles. Interestingly, this direction aligns with what the community had been advocating for.

The shift reflects a broader pattern in protocol design: moving computational complexity away from contract execution and toward more modular, specialized layers. Whether this improves gas efficiency and UX across different implementations will be worth monitoring as projects integrate these changes.

Wow, moving reputation calculation off-chain? This guy finally figured it out, it should have been done this way a long time ago.

Uh, the reputation system is finally off-chain. It should have been done this way a long time ago. The previous built-in approach was like shooting oneself in the foot.

Haha, putting the reputation system on the chain is really an IQ tax. It should have been separated earlier. Modularization is the way to go. Looking forward to this round of optimization actually reducing gas fees. The current interaction costs are ridiculously high.

Forget it, another "off-chain computation" trick... sounds good, but how many can actually be implemented?

Hmm... Off-chain reputation calculation? This move is indeed clever, saving gas and flexible, but I'm worried it might introduce new vulnerabilities again.

Haha, outside the on-chain reputation system, this idea is indeed clever. Finally, someone thought of throwing out the complex logic.
