According to on-chain monitoring data, on January 8th, BlackRock initiated a significant asset transfer, targeting the mainstream US trading platform Coinbase. This transfer involved two major cryptocurrencies and was of considerable scale.

The ETH portion was the first to be transferred, with BlackRock moving 22,902 ETH to Coinbase. Based on the current market price of $3.21K, this transfer’s market value is approximately $73.43 million. Following that, Bitcoin was also included in this transfer — 2,164 BTC were simultaneously sent to the same address. At the current price of $93.18K, this amounts to about $196 million.

From on-chain activity, BlackRock’s move does not appear to be sudden. Monitoring data suggests there is still potential for further increases, indicating that BlackRock may be gradually adding to these two leading assets.

Such large institutional transfers often serve as market indicators. As a top global asset management giant, every move BlackRock makes in the digital asset space attracts close attention. Transferring assets worth hundreds of thousands of dollars to exchanges usually signals the institution’s short-term market outlook or preparations for specific strategies.
