There is an interesting characteristic of the US stock market—if you have patience, there is always a chance to turn things around.
But this statement has a prerequisite. The exception is for options buyers. Once short-term options expire, the loss becomes a certainty, and there is no possibility of breaking even. Time decay is a ruthless factor in the later stages.
In contrast, holders of the underlying stocks, or players who sell puts or calls, are different. They can endure; if the cycle is long enough, they can wait for a rebound. With a reasonable strategy, these methods all have the chance to get through tough times.
The key is still choosing the right approach.

Ha, options are really a meat grinder. I've seen too many stories of people having their time decay eaten away.

Typical rookie mentality, truly believing that patience alone can turn things around. In the face of theta decay, everyone is equal; options buyers are just working for time.

Options really are ruthless, with time decay being unstoppable. Underlying stock players are much more comfortable, just lying back and waiting for the rebound.

Options trading is a gamble on time. Once the time runs out, no matter how advanced your technical analysis is, it can't save you... That's why I now only trade the underlying stocks and covered calls.

Basically, don't touch that bunch of short-term options; time decay will eat away your profits every minute.

Options are just a time killer, really. Holding stocks is the true way; if you can endure, you can win.
