I read about 10,000 pages of books each year. If a book has 300 pages, I need to read it 33 times. Some books I read repeatedly 2-3 times. Calculating this, I read about 20-30 books a year.
For an average book of 300 pages, I can finish it in 2 days. For more difficult books, it takes me a month to read 300 pages. There are also extremely difficult ones.
For example, the Daoist classic "Yin Fu Jing" written by the Yellow Emperor of antiquity, which is only 300 characters long. Classical Chinese language is very dense. I have to analyze each character repeatedly, scrutinizing it over and over. For 300 characters, I need at least a week. I also use annotated versions from the Qing and Ming dynasties as aids.
Until now, I believe that any knowledge is not difficult to learn—except for traditional Chinese medicine. TCM is too hard. The ultimate problem TCM tries to solve involves dark matter and spacetime. It’s too difficult, too difficult, too difficult!
By comparison, books on finance are much easier to read.
