Zhang Chaoyang dismissed Elon Musk's idea of migrating to Mars. Zhang believes that Earth is unique, and humanity should protect it. There are no other planets in the solar system suitable for human habitation. Musk's idea of migrating to Mars is too crazy and highly unrealistic. Mars has no magnetic field, no atmosphere, and its temperatures are extremely inhospitable. Ultraviolet radiation would cause immediate cancer risks. Sending robots to mine some minerals for scientific research is feasible, but migrating to Mars is completely impractical.

This is the difference between a Ph.D. in Physics from MIT and a Ph.D. candidate in Physics from Stanford. Musk is an entrepreneur and a crazy dreamer; Zhang Chaoyang is also an entrepreneur but a more rational scientist. In terms of business, Musk is much more accomplished than Zhang Chaoyang. Zhang's achievements include Sohu, Sogou, and Changyou; Musk's achievements include PayPal, SpaceX, and Tesla. It’s no exaggeration to say that any one of Musk’s companies surpasses Zhang’s entire lifetime achievements. Conversely, in the field of physics, although Musk graduated with a double degree in Physics and Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and received a Ph.D. offer from Stanford, he ultimately gave up his Ph.D. on the second day of enrollment. Compared to Zhang Chaoyang, who holds a genuine Ph.D. in Physics from MIT, Musk still has a significant gap.
