The Kingdom of Bhutan has launched the Bitcoin Development Pledge program. Authorities will allocate up to 10,000 BTC (approximately $1 billion) to support the national economy.
The key goal of the program is the construction of Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC), an economic hub in the south of the kingdom focused on innovation.
In the coming months, the government will approve an asset management strategy. Options for using Bitcoin as collateral are being considered, as the priority remains the preservation of capital and its purchasing power for future generations.
