Most people are unaware that they are breathing because their brains are always anxious about the future and regretful of the past. And a conscious breath is a form of meditation, which can instantly bring you back to the present moment. Today, let's talk about how to meditate correctly. Many experts practice meditation daily, and they all say that meditation is a very important part of life. To meditate properly, you first need to understand the true meaning and purpose of meditation—why do these people insist on meditating? The content can be divided into three parts:

1. Physiological Principles of Meditation:
Humans need meditation because there is a painful mechanism in the brain: the Default Mode Network (DMN), which is the brain’s “background process.” It causes mind-wandering—worrying about the future, regretting the past, overthinking, caring about others’ opinions, and so on. When you are not focused, it becomes more active, leading to anxiety and mental exhaustion. But when you enter a flow state, the DMN pauses, and you won’t have random thoughts because you are fully in the present. The purpose of meditation is to observe your breath and focus on your body, helping you return to the present, like giving your brain a workout. Long-term practice can thicken the prefrontal cortex, increasing awareness, enabling you to recognize and process emotions faster, and preventing anxiety from controlling you. Your animalistic instincts decrease, while rationality and spirituality rise.

2. Metaphysical Significance of Meditation:
Most people’s understanding of meditation is limited to the physiological level, but its true purpose comes from an older metaphysical system. Meditation originally comes from yoga in the Vedas, around 1500 BCE India, used for worship and communication with divine beings. Many people talk about “invoking gods,” but they are actually referring to awakening systems. What they are doing is the same: accessing higher-dimensional awareness. The description in the Vedas corresponds to the phrase: “Unity with All.” It means your soul itself is of a higher dimension. The goal of meditation is to allow the soul to take back the “steering wheel.” Why is the soul sealed? Because we have “acquired” desires, attachments, labels, knowledge, and fixed thinking through “postnatal” conditioning. These are all shackles that prevent the true self from making correct choices. The root of these shackles is the DMN. Therefore, the process of meditation is about taming the brain and allowing the soul to emerge. After meditation, you will instantly feel clear and know what to do next. That answer is the guidance from a higher dimension.

3. Practical Meditation Methods:
It’s best to meditate in the morning, sitting upright in a quiet place, with your back straight, hands resting on your thighs, palms facing up. If possible, playing the sound “Om (唵)” through high-quality speakers is even better, as it is believed to be the frequency of the universe’s source, capable of awakening the soul. The steps are as follows:

Step 1: Relaxation and breathing, relax your whole body from head to toe. Inhale gently, exhale slowly, in a ratio of 1:2. Deeply sense the air entering your body and flowing through your whole being, then exhale. Do eight deep, slow breaths, and after each one, gently touch your thumb to a finger. Focus on your breath, and if your mind wanders, gently bring it back.

Step 2: Make the sound “Om.” After inhaling, exhale softly while making the “唵—” sound. Do this for eight deep breaths.

Step 3: Observe the “pause” in your breathing. There is a slight pause between the end of inhalation and exhalation. Focus your attention on this pause. After each cycle, touch your thumb to a finger, and do this for a total of eight times.

Step 4: Visualization and expansion. Touch your thumb to your index finger. Breathe slowly and deeply. Imagine being surrounded and expanded by golden light, and finally merging with the universe. Repeat to yourself three times: “I am infinite consciousness.”

When ready, take a deep breath, slowly open your eyes. You will feel the world is very clear, as if new. At this moment, you can ask yourself a question, such as “What should I do now?” listen to the first voice that arises from your inner self, then tell yourself, “I will do exactly that.” If your mind is peaceful, then go ahead and follow through with confidence.

The effect of persistence: doing this every morning, you will feel rapid growth within a week: a strong sense of control throughout the day, better execution, reduced anxiety, and less internal friction. Just a few deep breaths (ratio 1:2) can instantly bring you back to the present moment.
