Sygnum Asia-Pacific High-Net-Worth Individuals Survey: 87% of respondents already hold cryptocurrencies, with an average allocation of approximately 17%
On December 11, according to the "2025 Asia-Pacific High-Net-Worth Individuals Report" released by Sygnum, based on a strong outlook for cryptocurrencies over the next two to five years, 60% of Asian high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) are prepared to increase their cryptocurrency allocations. The survey covered 270 high-net-worth individuals (investment assets exceeding US$1 million) and professional investors with over ten years of experience across ten Asia-Pacific countries (mainly focused on Singapore, including Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea, and Thailand). The survey indicates that 87% of Asian high-net-worth individuals already hold cryptocurrencies, about half of whom have allocations exceeding 10%, with an average investment portfolio allocation of approximately 17%. 80% of respondents reported holding blockchain protocol tokens such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana. According to 56% of respondents, the most common reason for investing in cryptocurrencies is portfolio diversification. The results also show that up to 90% of high-net-worth individuals believe that digital assets are "crucial for long-term wealth preservation and estate planning, rather than purely for speculation." Gerald Goh, co-founder of Sygnum, stated: “A 17% allocation indicates that high-net-worth individuals’ mindset has diverged significantly from the 'get-rich-quick' mentality of 2017. These are not speculators—they are investors with a long-term investment horizon of 10-20 years, focused on intergenerational wealth transfer. Digital assets have now become firmly embedded in the private wealth ecosystem of the Asia-Pacific region. Despite short-term macro uncertainties, we still see adoption accelerating, driven mainly by strategic portfolio diversification, estate planning, and demand for institutional-grade products.”
