The incident involving Pinduoduo employees assaulting law enforcement officers from the State Administration for Market Regulation. On December 3rd, the State Administration for Market Regulation arrived at Pinduoduo's Shanghai headquarters to conduct a three to four-day supervision inspection. On December 4th, senior management at Pinduoduo held a meeting and believed that the sudden inspection was related to the resignation of Vice President Wenxue, who had joined Xiaohongshu. Wenxue was previously a vice-department level official at the State Administration for Market Regulation. In November 2020, he joined Pinduoduo as President of the Government Affairs Department. After switching to Xiaohongshu in 2025, he encountered various investigation methods by Pinduoduo, including tracking, bank transaction checks, and courier information inquiries, allegedly under the guise of violating the dedication agreement. Even if not, Pinduoduo's senior management believed the supervision should be ended as soon as possible to avoid harming the company's interests, and thus they instructed Jincaocao and Xiaoshulin to complete this task.
On the evening of December 4th, Jincaocao and Xiaoshulin assigned Acan (Risk Control Director), Liu Qiong (Vice President of GR), and Yu Jinhao (Head of Duoduo Maicai) to provoke at the office of the State Administration for Market Regulation at Pinduoduo, intending to incite a fight between both parties. They aimed to use this as an excuse to quickly end the supervisory inspection. Ultimately, on the evening of December 4th, Acan, Liu Qiong, and Yu Jinhao engaged in multiple provocations and assaults against regulatory personnel at Pinduoduo's office, leading to a physical altercation. Both sides called the police, and after police arrived in Changning, they believed that both parties had physical conflict, knew each other, and had work relations, advising them to resolve privately. However, the regulatory authorities firmly disagreed and reported the incident. Under pressure, Changning police only detained Acan for five days; Liu Qiong and Yu Jinhao drove to Shenzhen in a Tesla that night. Nonetheless, the regulatory authorities were dissatisfied with this outcome and urgently reported it to the State Council and notified the Ministry of Public Security. On December 5th, the Ministry of Public Security issued a direct order to the Shanghai Public Security Bureau to handle this matter severely and ensure the safety of the State Administration for Market Regulation personnel working in Shanghai. Starting December 5th, the Shanghai Public Security Bureau deployed two special police support vehicles, guarding the regulatory staff 24 hours a day until they completed their work on December 6th. Meanwhile, Shanghai Public Security Bureau Director Zhao Yahong ordered a strict investigation into the incident, digging deep into the background. The case has been classified as interfering with official duties. On the evening of December 6th, Shanghai police brought back Liu Qiong and Yu Jinhao from Shenzhen Airport as they attempted to escape abroad. The case is currently under further investigation.
