Why do some projects keep clamoring for traffic every day, but still end up making no money?

Understand this: if you treat traffic as your only way to make money, that traffic actually becomes worthless. What truly matters is what you can do with that traffic—whether it’s providing services, solving problems, or building trust.

It’s just like many Web3 projects: users come and go, and community hype is short-lived. Why? Because they only focus on new user numbers and never think about giving users a reason to stay. Traffic is just the starting point—value is the destination.

In the end, it's just the same old trick of shitcoins—different packaging, same substance.

The pure fan economy model has long since failed in Web3, yet people are still dreaming about acquiring new users? Wake up, everyone.

Projects that keep bragging about their traffic basically have no product and no story—they just want to make a quick buck and run. No wonder they can’t retain users.

Simply put, a bunch of project teams are just bragging without anything real to offer, so they can't retain people.

After all this time, it's all just marketing games. Projects with real product strength have already made a killing. --- Chasing traffic is definitely outdated. Most projects still doing this are doomed. --- Exactly, community hype dies out in a week, can't retain anyone at all. --- The problem isn't the traffic, it's that the project team has nothing to offer. --- This is the real Web3 ecosystem—pump and dump is the norm. --- Makes sense. I saw that project recently, their daily active users dropped super fast. --- I've said it before: if there's no real demand, don't even try to mess around in crypto. --- Traffic = fleecing newbies, value = survival. --- No way. Any investors who still believe in "new user data" are just fools now. --- The only solution is to build a truly great product. Nothing else will work.

Every day, projects keep clamoring for traffic, but they all end up abandoned—it's truly ironic. Traffic itself is useless; what's important is having something that makes people stay. These Web3 projects just chase temporary hype and never think about providing real value to users. No wonder they all flop. You're absolutely right. Just acquiring new users without retention—this business is doomed to fail in the end. Another pain point hit—so many teams really only know how to brag.

To be honest, this is exactly how Web3 is right now. There’s hype about traffic and data every day, but in the end, project teams don’t even know how to retain users—I’ve seen it too many times. Traffic without product support is indeed empty. In the end, it all comes down to whether users can actually make money or receive real value. A lot of projects just treat users like “chives” (easy targets to exploit). Once the hype fades, everyone leaves. How can there be any trust in that? That’s probably why those projects with stable growth rarely brag about their monthly active user numbers. Projects with real substance don’t lack for traffic.

Yeah, you're right. Too many projects just go for the same old cash grab and never even think about building an ecosystem. The traffic is fake. Without real value to support it, it's bound to crash sooner or later. That's why I run whenever I see a project hyping up their daily active users. Seriously, building trust is way harder than acquiring new users, but most people aren't willing to put in the effort. That's just how Web3 is. Once the hype fades, everyone disappears. It feels a bit hopeless.

To put it simply, it's just about wanting to take shortcuts. Thinking that having people means having money, but in the end, you can't keep the people. That's how Web3 is—one group comes today, and they're gone tomorrow. Why would they stay? There's no value. The truly profitable projects are all focused on how to serve users well, not just competing on data. Traffic itself isn't worth anything—it's that simple. And after you get the people? If you have nothing to offer them, they'll just leave. Too many projects follow this pattern.
