"The biology of aging—that's where we need to put our energy."

Jamie Justice dropped this gem recently. She's the Executive VP running the Health Domain at XPRIZE Foundation, plus she heads up their Healthspan initiative.

The message? Stop chasing symptoms. Start understanding why our cells actually age. It's a paradigm shift happening in longevity research right now—moving from treating diseases to hacking the aging process itself.

XPRIZE has been throwing serious resources at this. Their healthspan competitions are pushing researchers to find breakthrough interventions that could extend our healthy years, not just our total years.

Think about it: if we crack the biological mechanisms behind aging, we're not just talking about living longer. We're talking about staying sharp, mobile, and healthy well into what we currently call "old age."

The science is getting there. Slowly. But voices like Justice's are keeping the focus where it matters.

Finally, someone has hit the nail on the head—the mechanism of cellular aging is the real key. Instead of patching things up, it’s better to fundamentally understand why we age. The healthspan direction is truly brilliant; it’s better to live healthily than just live long. Agreed, the problem is that current medicine is still playing whack-a-mole; we need to address the root cause. This is true biohacker spirit, not those random anti-aging products. If we crack cellular aging, the entire medical system would have to be restructured, right?

Instead of getting entangled with the symptoms, it's better to directly tackle the essence of aging. This approach is truly brilliant.

Rather than waiting to die, it's better to first figure out how to live more clearly. There's nothing wrong with this logic.

This approach is indeed interesting... shifting from treating symptoms to addressing the mechanisms of aging itself feels like upgrading from treating symptoms to modifying the source code. From a technical validation perspective, it's quite challenging.

Rather than hyping longevity drugs every day, it's better to invest money in understanding the essence of aging. What Justice said makes perfect sense. Seriously, shifting from treating symptoms to unraveling the mechanisms of aging is the right path... XPRIZE's investment approach this time is very clear. Healthspan vs. lifespan—there’s a huge difference. Living longer isn’t as good as living strong.

That’s the real idea—rather than treating diseases, it’s better to figure out why people age.

ngl, from treating symptoms to cracking the mechanisms of aging... this is true progress to a higher level, way more reliable than those life-extension scams.

Rather than waiting to be dominated by aging, it's better to take the initiative to break it—I'm in favor of this approach. I just worry that capital will hype it up again and then nothing will come of it.

Shifting from symptom patching to addressing the mechanisms of aging itself is indeed a line of thinking worth taking seriously. However, it’s worth noting that breakthroughs in basic biology often take ten or twenty years to translate into practical interventions—the time costs and failure rates involved are enormous from an economic perspective. Whether competitions like XPRIZE can truly incentivize breakthroughs still depends on how robustly the incentive structures are designed.
