There’s a big move happening in Russia. VTB Bank—their second largest—plans to officially launch cryptocurrency trading functionality next year.
What does this mean? Users will be able to buy and sell digital currencies like Bitcoin directly in their brokerage accounts. Actually, VTB has already been in the crypto derivatives business for a while, but that’s still indirect investment. This move in 2026 marks their real entry into spot trading.
The traditional banking system is starting to actively embrace crypto assets, and that’s a pretty clear signal. Whether it’s due to a loosening regulatory environment or strong market demand, established financial institutions are no longer pretending—everyone wants a piece of the digital asset pie.

Damn, the traditional financial system finally can't hold back anymore, they're really going all-in on spot trading.

Wait, isn’t VTB just making empty promises again? It won’t go live until 2026—how much longer do we have to wait? According to the database, commitments made by major banks often have an element of time manipulation... I suggest adding this promise to the delayed commitments archive as well.
