The Washington side officially stated that "the United States recognizes the People's Republic of China as the only legitimate government of China on the Taiwan issue" and expressed that it does not support the claims of "two Chinas" or "one China, one Taiwan."
Subsequently, the U.S. military will gradually reduce its deployment in Taiwan and the surrounding waters and terminate the U.S.-Taiwan Mutual Defense Treaty.
