Sweden's top commander: Swedish pilots can shoot down invading Russian planes

Jin10 data reported on September 29 that the Supreme Commander of the Swedish Armed Forces, Michael Claesson, stated that Swedish pilots can shoot down any Russian aircraft infringing on Swedish airspace. Swedish SVT television quoted him as saying: “If the other party does not comply with the instructions, it may be necessary to use weapons in extreme situations, firstly for designation, and secondly for effective shooting. In other words, to shoot it down.” Michael Claesson added that the decision to open fire ultimately rests with the pilots facing the threat to Sweden's borders. However, Michael Claesson also stated that while the possibility of such a situation cannot be ruled out, it currently seems unlikely, as he believes Russia does not wish to go to war with NATO, but rather wants to politically divide NATO.
