Gate News reports that on March 7, the UK government announced that it will delay decisions on amending copyright rules. The proposed changes would have made it easier for AI companies to access and use media content but faced strong opposition from the creative industry.
An insider familiar with the government consultation response said that copyright issues will be postponed again. Previously, the government launched a two-month public consultation to gather opinions on how to regulate AI companies’ access to copyrighted materials. An official response is expected to be released within the next two weeks.
Two sources revealed that public feedback on the consultation did not support any of the government’s proposed plans for AI to use copyrighted materials. As a result, ministers have decided to revisit the proposals, gather more evidence, and conduct longer consultations on various options.
