The good news is that the team recovered everything quickly and is compensating affected users at 110% to cover the losses. About $30,000 in total losses, but at least they are taking it seriously in compensating everyone. The website is back online now, although some antivirus programs still flag it as suspicious. An alternative domain is available while they resolve this. What a complicated situation, but it's nice to see them compensating users like this.
