Uber found liable in another case where a driver was accused of sexual assault

A federal jury found Uber liable for a driver’s actions, awarding a plaintiff $5,000 after she accused the driver of grabbing her inner thigh. This verdict follows another case where Uber was ordered to pay $8.5 million to a woman who alleged sexual assault by a driver. The case is significant as a bellwether for over 3,000 similar lawsuits against Uber, despite the company arguing its drivers are not employees and it is not liable for their conduct.
