Anthropic's new AI model Mythos raises concerns about cyberattacks
Odaily Planet Daily reported that, according to sources, Japanese Finance Minister Tsuyoshi Katayama plans to meet with major domestic banks and other financial institutions as early as this week to discuss Anthropic’s new AI model Mythos. The company previously said that this model is powerful enough to carry out complex cyberattacks. The sources added that Katayama will hold talks with major Japanese financial institutions such as Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, and Mizuho Financial Group. Because the discussion involves non-public information, the sources requested anonymity. Japan’s Financial Services Agency declined to comment on the planned meetings. Meanwhile, the Reserve Bank of Australia is also closely monitoring developments related to the AI model Mythos and, in a statement, said it is “engaging with other regulators, government departments and regulated entities.” The statement also noted that “the Reserve Bank of Australia, together with peer regulators and government agencies, will continue to assess the impact of these technological advances to ensure the continued safety and resilience of the financial system.”
