Hey, February 1st has already passed, and traffic fines in Veracruz have increased quite a bit. The DGTSV updated everything based on the new UMA, which is now 117.31 pesos, so obviously Veracruz fines have become more expensive. If you were driving without a valid license, it now costs between 1,876 and 3,519 pesos for regular drivers. Public transportation drivers have it worse, ranging from 3,636 to 4,692 pesos. And that’s not counting if you have a record or were caught with something on you. The interesting part is that they offer a 50% discount if you pay within the first 10 business days, but only if it’s not a very serious offense. Veracruz fines are not only for expired licenses, of course. Speeding, using your phone while driving, parking in prohibited areas—all that has also increased proportionally. The UMA increase was 3.69%, so just imagine how it’s reflected across the entire fee schedule. If you need to renew documents or check if you have any outstanding debts, there’s the SEFIPLAN portal. Quite inconvenient because nobody realizes until you get stopped.
