If you want your life to be better, remember these seven pieces of advice.
First, never entangle yourself long-term with people who clearly don't match you or drain you. If someone consistently belittles themselves, they will often be treated the same way. Learn to respect yourself and cut losses in time.
Second, when competing with others, since you're involved in the competition, don't be soft-hearted to the point of losing your boundaries. Have principles and bottom lines, and let others know you have the ability to fight back and protect yourself. Usually, don't act rashly, but be able to stand firm at critical moments.
Third, your demeanor can be gentle, but your resolve must be strong. Be polite and friendly in daily interactions, but have the courage to turn hostile on principle and the ability to uphold your bottom line.
Fourth, good opportunities won't come easily, and valuable resources are often unnoticed. When faced with choices, maintain judgment, and don't be easily fooled by packaging and appearances to avoid falling into traps.
Fifth, stay away from people with rigid cognition, extreme emotions, and poor communication skills. These individuals are often stubborn, self-centered, and lack reflection, which can hurt others and themselves.
Sixth, don't easily see yourself as a "savior." Over-involving yourself in others' problems often brings extra trouble and drain. Everyone has their own choices and outcomes; maintaining boundaries is very important.
Seventh, stay away from people who can't distinguish right from wrong over the long term and refuse to reflect. Such individuals tend to externalize problems and shift responsibility onto others, which can seriously diminish your quality of life over time. Choosing the people around you is essentially choosing your living environment.
