Huawei Suddenly "Goes Crazy"! Large Numbers of Adult Players "Mistaken" for Minors? Players Collectively Outraged, Experts Call It "Elementary Error"
Text | “BUG” Column Xu Yuanlei
This morning, multiple Huawei channel service players reported login issues with popular games such as “Eggy Party,” “Love and Deep Space,” and “Identity V.” The system displayed the message: “This account has a record of minor consumption appeal and has been refunded; service has been terminated.” Several players stated they never requested a refund, their accounts are verified as adult, and questioned whether the system had mistakenly flagged them.
After the incident, customer service from Paper Games responded to players, indicating the issue stemmed from Huawei. The “BUG” column noted that around noon, some accounts had resumed login. As of press time, Huawei has not issued an official statement.
An industry tech insider told “BUG” that the cause of the malfunction might be a logical error in Huawei’s account verification system or anti-addiction interface, admitting, “This is a very basic mistake.”
The incident also sparked player doubts about the stability of Huawei’s channel service, reflecting a reality where channels prioritize business interests over user experience.
According to the February 2026 update of the “Huawei App Market Co-Distribution Service Agreement,” Huawei can earn a 50% share of in-app purchase services. This means that if a player recharges 1 yuan, about 0.5 yuan goes to Huawei.
Data from Black Cat Platform shows complaints about minors’ recharge refunds on Huawei channel services have been persistent, raising concerns over regulation and service issues. Some parents believe Huawei, as the payment collector, has failed in regulatory duties, with no effective facial recognition, secondary confirmation, or purchase reminders during recharge, exposing clear regulatory gaps.
Adult players’ accounts mistakenly banned, multiple parties point to Huawei
This morning, many Huawei channel game players reported login anomalies on social media, with the system stating: “This account has a record of minor consumption appeal and has been refunded; service has been terminated, unable to log in.”
One player said, “First, I am already an adult, and secondly, I never requested a refund. The app store shows no refund was made. This morning, I couldn’t reach Huawei customer service for over ten minutes; there were over 4,000 people in line.”
“BUG” found that affected games span multiple categories, including Paper Games’ “Shining Warmth,” “Love and Deep Space,” “Love and Producer,” as well as NetEase’s “Eggy Party,” “Identity V,” and “Onmyoji.”
After the incident gained attention, the involved game companies responded. Paper Games customer service told players, “The issue of Huawei channel login termination has been reported and verified to be caused by Huawei. Players are advised to monitor login status or contact Huawei customer service for details.”
“Eggy Party” customer service stated, “There was indeed a login anomaly on Huawei channel; the technical team is urgently fixing it.” When asked about the repair timeline, they said a specific completion time has not yet been determined, and players should check back later.
“BUG” noted that around noon, many affected players reported their accounts could now log in normally.
As of press time, Huawei has not responded publicly. Huawei customer service said the issue has been resolved, and users can try logging out and back into their Huawei accounts. Regarding the cause of the fault and whether there will be user compensation, Huawei has no current information but advised to watch for official announcements on the game center.
A tech insider speculated that the root cause might be a logical error in Huawei’s account verification or anti-addiction interface. “Huawei’s risk control database or refund status check interface returned incorrect status codes—this is a very basic error.”
He further explained that Huawei’s system may have mistakenly flagged many normal adult accounts as having completed minor refund appeals. According to national anti-addiction regulations, once an account completes a minor refund, it must be permanently terminated. Due to system errors, many innocent players were blocked and received a “service terminated” message upon login.
Passing the buck with game developers? Parents criticize “Huawei’s weak regulation”
Huawei channel services hold a significant share of the domestic mobile game market. According to Gamma Data’s “2025 China Gaming Industry Annual Report,” by 2025, about 60.8% of Android mobile game revenue in China will come from channels. Huawei App Market accounts for 19.2%, ranking ahead of Xiaomi’s app store (17.5%) and OPPO’s app store (14.1%).
The recent hours-long malfunction has led to widespread doubts about Huawei’s channel service stability. Players also complain about obvious shortcomings, such as inability to link official community tools or lack of VIP-exclusive customer support.
Industry analyst Zhang Shule pointed out that the main reason for player complaints about channel services is the clear differences from official servers—such as different update schedules and incomplete benefit synchronization. Additionally, some channel services suffer from poor game experience, like server congestion, far less stable and professional than self-operated servers.
However, Zhang noted that the incident also highlights that anti-addiction and minor recharge controls are being implemented, albeit with some “mistaken harm” in certain cases.
“BUG” observed on Black Cat Platform that complaints about minors’ recharge refunds on Huawei channel games like “Love and Producer,” “Eggy Party,” and “Identity V” remain high, involving amounts from hundreds to thousands of yuan.
Many parents reported, “Submitting complete materials still doesn’t guarantee full refunds,” and accused Huawei and game developers of passing responsibility back and forth. One parent said their minor child, without parental knowledge or consent, used a Huawei phone to recharge multiple times on “Eggy Party” from late 2022 to mid-2024, totaling 1,670 yuan. After discovering this, they contacted Huawei customer service for a minor refund, but by the end of January, the issue remained unresolved.
The parent argued that Huawei Software Technology Co., Ltd., as the payment collector, failed to enforce strict minor identity verification and anti-addiction measures during recharge, allowing minors to recharge freely. “Huawei has not fulfilled its regulatory duties—no facial recognition, secondary confirmation, or purchase reminders—exposing obvious regulatory loopholes. They cannot shirk responsibility by claiming the user is an adult.”
Industry practice generally involves a 50-50 revenue split between the channel and the game developer. Zhang Shule said that the main purpose of channel services is to distribute revenue, functioning as a toll booth for profit, which inherently has distortions. While some joint operations remain, channel services prioritize business interests over user experience, making service quality improvement very difficult.
