The largest natural gas power generation base in Sichuan Province has been fully completed and put into operation
China Power Engineering Consulting Group Southwest Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd., affiliated with China State Construction Engineering Corporation, successfully completed a 168-hour full-load test run of Unit 4 at the Dazhou Gas Power Plant Phase II project. This marks the full completion and official commercial operation of the project. Located in the High-tech Zone of Dazhou City, Sichuan Province, the second phase involves the construction of two 700 MW H-class gas turbine units, operating jointly with the Phase I 2×350 MW F-class units, with a total installed capacity of 2.1 million kilowatts, making it the largest natural gas power generation base in Sichuan Province. The project adopts globally leading H-class gas turbine technology, with a combined cycle efficiency of 63.72%, setting a new domestic benchmark for similar units. After full operation, it is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 1 million tons annually, help increase the proportion of clean energy in Sichuan’s power grid, and serve as a demonstration for building an integrated new power system with “source, grid, load, and storage” in the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle.
