The White House has temporarily halted the release of a federal security alert regarding threats of conflict with Iran. On March 7 local time, the White House paused the issuance of a warning that Iran’s conflict could pose a higher threat to the U.S. mainland. The alert was jointly drafted by the FBI, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC), and was originally scheduled to be distributed to state and local law enforcement agencies. A White House official said the administration requested a delay to further review the accuracy of the alert. The official stated that the document, drafted by the DHS Office of Intelligence and Analysis, was “not detailed enough and poorly written,” and needed to be reassessed. The White House said that it is normal procedure for intelligence alerts to be reviewed by the White House before release, to ensure the information is accurate, up-to-date, and thoroughly verified. Since the U.S. launched military actions against Iran, it has evacuated thousands of American citizens from the Middle East through more than ten charter flights. (CCTV News)
