Mac Allister demonstrates his development with another goal in Liverpool's thrashing

Alexis Mac Allister’s campaign in the Premier League has shown steady progress after his initial difficulties. This past weekend, the Argentine midfielder found the net again as Liverpool dominated West Ham, turning the match into a convincing victory. Arne Slot’s team won 5-2 against the Hammers at Anfield, with the Argentine once again making his mark on the scoresheet.

A Volley That Defines First-Half Dominance

The outcome of the match was already clear when Mac Allister scored. Liverpool opened the scoring thanks to goals from Hugo Ekitike and Virgil van Dijk, but the home team maintained their offensive momentum. Around the 43rd minute of the first half, Frenchman Ekitike intercepted a clearance after a corner kick and found the Argentine midfielder on the field. Without hesitation, Mac Allister struck a powerful volley that left goalkeeper Mads Hermansen no chance to react. It was his second consecutive goal in the competition, having scored against Nottingham Forest seven days earlier.

With this performance, the Argentine reached his fifth goal of the season across all competitions, three of which came from the Champions League group stage. His scoring streak is an encouraging sign for the Argentina National Team, which is finalizing preparations for the Finalissima in Qatar against Spain in the coming weeks.

Castellanos Also Scores for West Ham

It wasn’t just Mac Allister who left an Argentine mark on the field. Valentín Castellanos, the Mendoza-born striker who joined West Ham in the transfer market, also found the net. In the 75th minute, Castellanos capitalized on a corner kick taken by Jarrod Bowen to appear unmarked and head the ball into the back of the net, doubling his tally in the Premier League.

The forward played the full 90 minutes in his eighth league appearance. West Ham invested 29 million euros to secure his services from Lazio, offering a contract that extends until mid-2030. In a recent interview, Castellanos shared his perspective on English football: “For me, the Premier is one of the best leagues in the world. There are big teams everywhere, and anyone is competitive. Compared to Italy, this is different; Serie A is more defensive, which made my role as a forward more difficult. Here, there’s more dynamism.”

Liverpool Consolidates Its Position While West Ham Fights for Survival

With this victory, Liverpool accumulated 48 points in the domestic league, temporarily tying with Manchester United in fourth place, though with one more game played. The team’s recent performances have been on the rise, coinciding with the development shown by Mac Allister on the pitch.

For West Ham, the mission is more urgent: avoid relegation to the Championship. With one additional game, the Hammers are just two points behind Nottingham Forest, the team marking the safety line. Castellanos will be responsible for scoring goals to help the London club move away from the relegation zone.
