It should have been like this earlier. Previously, L2 was really messing around on L1, causing everyone to be trapped by gas fees.
To be honest, the period before EIP-4844 was too difficult. The piling up of L2 data directly pushed the mainnet gas to the limit. Separating out blobs is really a lifesaver.
