Zcash developers announced they are building a new wallet for this privacy-focused cryptocurrency, just less than a day after leaving Electric Coin Company (ECC) due to disagreements over nonprofit regulations and governance. Former ECC CEO Josh Swihart stated that the team that launched Zcash and developed the Zashi wallet will continue building a new wallet named code cashZ, expected to launch in a few weeks.

The cashZ wallet uses the same source code as Zashi, allowing users to switch seamlessly. Swihart affirmed that the team remains 100% focused on developing Zcash, not issuing new tokens but only expanding the ecosystem through a more specialized new company.

According to him, Zcash needs to return to the cypherpunk spirit, have a flexible organization, prioritize innovation, and be scalable enough to compete with Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana. After the volatility, the ZEC price dropped more than 21% but has slightly recovered to around $430.
