Madeira Becomes Centre for the Business Startups

Miguel Albuquerque, the president of Madeira has unveiled plans to establish a Bitcoin business hub to drive regional innovation. Madeira will become the centre hub for business startups. This announcement was made at Bitcoin Amsterdam 2023 during a discussion with Prince Filip Karađorđević of Serbia. The aim of the hub is to increase technology development and partnerships, keeping origins rooted with Bitcoin friendly policies of Madeira. This also includes exemptions from personal income taxes for Bitcoin investors. An autonomous region of Portugal, Madeira is shifting its economic focus toward technology, high-tech industries, artificial intelligence, and Bitcoin, aligning with the region’s commitment to cryptocurrency adoption and innovation. Prince Filip also praised Madeira for the forward looking approach of Bitcoin.
